About Steinmetz Solid
Explore two- and three-cylinder intersections through 3D surfaces, exact cross sections, volume formulas and midpoint integration.
A Steinmetz solid is the common region of equal-radius circular cylinders whose axes intersect at right angles. Two cylinders form a bicylinder; adding a third perpendicular cylinder forms a tricylinder. The curved boundary looks complicated, but horizontal slices make its volume approachable. The intersection contains only points that satisfy every cylinder inequality.
